A bicycle pump is a must-have tool. There are two main types: floor pumps (track pumps) for use at home to easily reach high pressures, and mini-pumps (hand pumps) that are carried on the bike for emergency repairs during a ride.

Pumps must be compatible with the type of valve on the tire: Presta(narrow) orSchrader(car-style). Some pumps also feature a pressure gauge to ensure tires are inflated to the correcttire pressure.
