HYDRAULIC BRAKE

Hydraulic brakes use a closed fluid system to transfer the force applied at the brake lever to the calipers. They offer superior modulation (control) and much higher stopping power with less finger effort compared to mechanical (cable) brakes. They are standard on most modern mountain bikes and many high-end road and touring bikes.

While they require less regular adjustment than cable brakes, they eventually need a "bleed" to remove air bubbles from the system and maintain performance.
