HEADSET

The headset is the set of bearings that provides the interface between the bicycle fork and the head tube of the bicycle frame itself. It allows the fork to rotate smoothly, enabling steering. There are two main types: threaded (older standard) and threadless (modern standard).

A properly adjusted headset should rotate freely without any "play" or rattling when the front brake is applied and the bike is rocked back and forth.
