
TURKISH CYCLING FEDERATION
The history of cycling in Türkiyedates back to the late 19th century, to the Ottoman Empire. The establishment of the bicycle federation is in the same year as the Republic. TheTurkish Cycling Federation was founded in 1923. Its first federation president was Muvaffak Bey (Menemencioğlu).
The first athletes of the national team were Cambaz Fahri, Cavit Cav Bey, and Raif Bey. They prepared for the Paris 1924 Olympic Games but could not participate in the Olympic competitions because bicycles could not be found.
The first international encounter in cycling was held with Bulgaria in 1927 at the Taksim Stadium track. Our National Team participated in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. In the Balkan Cycling Championship held for the first time in 1940, the Turkish Team won two silver medals in the track race where Krikor Cambaz and Orhan Suda competed in the team pursuit.
