WASTE MANAGEMENT IN NATURE

When cycling in nature, proper waste management is a fundamental ethical responsibility. "Leave No Trace" is a widely accepted framework for minimizing the impact of outdoor activities on the natural environment.

Key Principles

  • Pack it in, pack it out: Everything you bring into nature must come back out with you. This includes all food packaging, wrappers, bottles, and other waste.
  • No littering: Never throw waste on the road or trail. Carry a small bag for waste.
  • Organic waste: Even organic waste like fruit peels can take a long time to decompose and should ideally be packed out as well. If burying human waste, do so at least 60 meters from water sources.
  • Leave what you find: Do not disturb plants, rocks, or historical artifacts.
