TRACK RACING: SPRINT
The individual sprint is one of the most tactical and exciting events in track cycling. Two riders compete head-to-head, racing over 3 laps of the velodrome. The first 2.5 laps are often ridden at a slow speed, with riders jockeying for position, before an explosive sprint over the final 200 meters.
The winner advances through a knockout bracket. The final is typically a best-of-three race. The event is a fascinating mix of psychology, tactics, and explosive power.
