TRACK RACING
Track cycling is a form of bicycle racing held on a specially built banked track (velodrome). Track bicycles are simpler than road bikes: they have no gears, no brakes, and a fixed rear sprocket (fixie) that prevents the rider from freewheeling.
Track cycling is one of the Olympic sports with the most events. Races are divided into sprint events (short, explosive efforts) and endurance events (longer efforts requiring sustained power).
