TOUR DE FRANCE

The Tour de France is the most prestigious and famous professional road cycling race in the world. Held annually in France (and occasionally neighboring countries) each July, the race consists of 21 stages over 23 days, covering approximately 3,500 km.

The race was first organized in 1903 by newspaper L'Auto (later L'Equipe) to boost circulation. It has been held continuously since then, with interruptions only during the two World Wars.
