SADDLE WIDTH (SIT BONES)
Saddle width is the most important parameter in saddle selection. The most accurate measurement is the distance between the two protrusions of the pelvis (sit bones) that come into contact with the saddle. This measurement varies from person to person.
Choosing a saddle that is too narrow for your sit bones causes the rider’s weight to be supported by soft tissue instead of bone, leading to pressure on nerves and blood vessels in the perineal area. This can result in numbness or pain.
