NATURE AND TRAIL ETIQUETTE
Cyclists sharing the outdoors with others have a responsibility to follow etiquette that ensures safety, respect, and preservation of the natural environment.
- Yield appropriately: On shared trails, cyclists generally yield to hikers and horse riders. Slow down, announce your approach, and pass with care.
- Ride on designated trails: Do not create new trails or ride off-trail, as this damages vegetation and soil.
- Respect closures: Multi-use trails may be closed during wet conditions to prevent damage. Respect these closures even if the ground seems rideable.
- Control your speed: Ride at a speed appropriate for visibility and trail conditions. Be ready to stop for unexpected obstacles or other trail users.
- Leave No Trace: Pack out all waste. Do not pick plants or disturb wildlife.
- Be friendly: Acknowledge other trail users with a greeting. A simple wave or "hello" fosters a positive community.
