Bicycle drivetrain components are sold in "groupsets" or series, ranging from entry-level to professional competition grade. Higher-level groups are lighter, shift more precisely, and are more durable, but also significantly more expensive.
The three major manufacturers of bicycle drivetrains are Shimano(Japan),SRAM(USA), andCampagnolo (Italy).
