FIRST AID

First aid consists of non-medical interventions performed at the scene of an accident for the purpose of saving life until medical help arrives.

People who have received a first aider certificate can perform first aid. The first and fundamental task is to ensure the continuation of life. A first aid certificate can be obtained through training provided by the Red Crescent and the Ministry of Health.

First Steps to Take

The things to watch out for and the steps to take in bicycle accidents are, in order, as follows:

  1. Ensuring safety is the first task. The safety of the cyclist who had the accident is ensured. A warning person takes precautions for vehicles and cyclists coming from behind to prevent a new accident.
  2. The casualty is not moved from their place; vital signs (consciousness, airway, breathing, heartbeat) are checked. In bleeding situations, gloves are used to protect against infectious diseases.
  3. Call 112 without wasting time. Report the exact location, address, identity, phone number, incident, number of patients, and their status.
  4. If you do not know first aid, definitely do not touch the injured person and do not move them from their place. The injured person’s fear and anxiety should be relieved, and they should not be allowed to see their wound.
  5. A first aid kit always kept on the bike is very useful.
