DERYAR

Deryar is a Turkish cycling term for the derailleur (gear-changing mechanism), specifically referring to the rear derailleur. The word is an adaptation of the French word "dérailleur."

The rear derailleur moves the chain between the cogs on the cassette. It consists of a cage that holds two jockey wheels (guide pulley and tension pulley), a spring-loaded arm that maintains chain tension, and a body that is pushed sideways by the gear cable to shift the chain.

The rear derailleur must be adjusted correctly by setting the limit screws (H and L) to prevent the chain from going beyond the smallest or largest cog, and by adjusting cable tension for accurate, precise shifting.
