CLIPLESS PEDAL (SPD)
Despite the name "clipless," these pedals use a mechanical system to lock a cleat on the sole of a cycling shoe into the pedal. This allows the rider to pull up on the pedals as well as push down, providing more power and better control. SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) is the most common standard for mountain biking and touring.
