CHAIN

The bicycle chain is the link between the rider's pedaling power and the rear wheel. It connects the chainring of the crankset to the cog on the rear cassette, transmitting the rotational force to drive the bicycle forward.

Regular chain maintenance—cleaning and lubricating—is the most important and cost-effective maintenance a cyclist can perform. A well-lubricated chain runs quietly and efficiently. A dirty, dry chain wears out the chain, cassette, and chainrings much faster, leading to expensive drivetrain replacements.
