CASSETTE / FREEWHEEL
The set of gears on the rear wheel allows the rider to choose the best gear ratio for the terrain. In a modern cassettesystem, the cogs slide onto a splined hub body called a freehub. In an olderfreewheel system, the entire gear set and ratcheting mechanism screw directly onto the hub.
