BROOKS SADDLE

Saddle soreness is the most common complaint among cyclists. One of the most effective solutions is a Brooks saddle. The first Brooks B17 was produced in 1888, meaning they have been in use for over 130 years. Their enduring popularity among long-distance touring cyclists is a testament to their comfort.

Not as comfortable as imagined initially!

A Brooks saddle is made from thick, natural leather. Initially, it is very hard and may feel uncomfortable. It takes a "break-in" period of several hundred to a thousand kilometers for the leather to mold to the shape of the rider's sit bones. Once broken in, it is often considered the most comfortable saddle available.

Maintenance and Care

Brooks saddles require regular maintenance with a leather conditioner (like Brooks Proofide) to keep the leather flexible and prevent it from cracking. The tension of the leather can be adjusted with a nut under the nose of the saddle. Protecting the saddle from heavy rain is crucial, as wet leather can stretch and lose its shape.
