BAR END
Bar ends are extensions attached to the ends of flat or riser handlebars. They provide additional hand positions, which is particularly useful for long-distance touring on mountain bikes or hybrid bikes.
Advantages of Bar Ends
- Provide additional hand positions, reducing fatigue on long rides.
- Allow the rider to engage different muscle groups by changing grip.
- Provide a narrower grip position for climbing, allowing a more natural pull on the handlebar.
- They are lightweight and easy to install.
Disadvantages
- In the bar end position, the rider's hands are far from the brake levers, which can be a safety concern in traffic.
- They can snag on branches on narrow trail sections.
